1. There is a secret train station below the Waldorf Astoria, which was used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to discreetly enter the hotel. 

2.  Beloved Times Square was once called Longacre Square until 1904, when the New York Times building moved there.

3. There is a 550-foot-tall skyscraper with no windows, located at 33 Thomas Street. It was originally the AT&T Long Lines Building.

4. Head to the Financial District and look down--oysters were so popular in the 19th century, their shells were used to pave Pearl Street. 

5.  In 2018, New York City will open the first ever underground park called the Lowline. It will be located under the eastbound roadway of Delancey Street on the Lower East Side.
